Updated: 27 Nov 2019

The scheme has been extended with changes.

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment advises that the whole-of-government General Construction Works Valued up to $1 million Prequalification Scheme (SCM0256) has been extended to 31 December 2022.

Changes to the scheme effective today are:

  • simplified Scheme Conditions, Applicant Guidelines and Agency Guidelines
  • increased financial range for Registered Contractors (to $250,000) and Certified Contractors ($250,000 to $1 million)
  • easier to identify Aboriginal-owned businesses, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), regional capacity and capability
  • suppliers can upload licences when applying online
  • 2 work categories (building remediation works and aluminium windows and doors) have been removed. Existing contractors in these categories will be transferred to the category for non-residential building works.

All existing suppliers are being transferred to the reformed scheme.

Buyers can search for prequalified contractors on Tenders Scheme Explorer, for detailed instructions see Agency Guidelines.
